Zero-Covid policy in Shanghai
Then as now, Corona has an impact on production and deliveries from Asia. “In Shanghai, a zero Covid policy is currently being implemented again due to fewer positive cases and the city is being cordoned off. Anyone who is at work in the factory will stay inside until the end of the lockdown,” says Michael Roedeske. But not only that – the war in Europe also has an impact.

Rising energy and material costs
The war in Ukraine has been leading to rising production and transport costs on the European market for a while, including in the energy sector. The European Trade Association (HDE) is expecting a second wave of price increases soon, in the double-digit percentage range. “It’s not just supermarkets that are affected, we also expect a price increase of up to 15% for our massage chairs due to higher material costs, among other things,” emphasizes Michael Roedeske. The owner and founder of Massage Chair World with branches in Weinstadt and Leverkusen saw as early as the end of 2021 that delivery bottlenecks would affect his business. He prepared his customers for this by advising them to order early. “Even now, I don’t want customers who are thinking about buying to involuntarily have to pay more in a few weeks,” he explains the background. The price increases in the transport of goods do not only affect transport from the Far East. “The last miles that our products travel on the way to the customer are also affected,” Roedeske is certain.
