5 expert tips for less pain and more relaxation

Stinging in the neck, constant headaches, migraines, limited upper body mobility and cramps in the jaw – the list of complaints is long. Over 50% of employees suffer from sitting-related pain as a result of their office job. Little exercise and poor posture at the desk have a negative impact on physical health.

Desk work can lead to tension. If the symptoms last longer than three months, the pain is already considered chronic. At this stage, pain management is much more difficult. Early action prevents long-term damage.

Relaxation expert and managing director of Massage Chair World Michael Roedeske is familiar with pain inhibitors and knows their effects. He has collected five tips for us that you can use to combat desk tension.

  1. Exercise: Anyone who sits at a desk for hours needs some balance. Physical activity is considered essential for a healthy body. Both circulation and general posture benefit from regular exercise. Simple loosening and relaxation exercises can be easily integrated into everyday work.
  2. Painkillers: Medication restores mobility over short periods of time and avoids protective postures. They also provide quick and effective relief for inflammation. However, taking the tablet should be accompanied by a doctor, as regular intake can cause organ damage.
  3. Heat patches or heat pads: Point heat promotes blood circulation and loosens the tissue. This relieves cramps and reduces the feeling of pain. However, heat treatment is more of an accompanying measure and, when isolated, tends to have little or only a short-lasting effect.
  4. Physiotherapy or massage: Those affected and those suffering from pain love both treatment methods because they specifically activate muscles and relieve tension in the long term. However, in both cases, only a few health insurance companies cover enough sessions to achieve the desired relaxation. Patients pay for each additional appointment out of their own pocket.
  5. Massage chair: Regular use of a massage chair ensures physical well-being and supports mental health. You can approach the next working day with peace of mind, balanced and with new strength.

"Massage chairs offer moments of complete peace - a short vacation for body and soul. I already notice this during the consultation appointments," explains Michael Roedeske. He explains: “People come stressed and leave relaxed – after just one test session.”
